Tindall Family Burials

Thanks to Gary Tindall for sharing photographs of some of his family gravestones in New Providence Cemetery.   Gary's notes about the burials in New Providence are included here to aid others who may be researching this family.

Edward Tindall is my 3rd great-grandfather.  A daughter of Michael Rawlings married my 2nd great-grandfather.

My father and I visited New Providence for the first (and only) time back in the fall of 2001.  The condition of Edward and Charity Tindall's  headstones was disturbing.  See attached.  My father and I, right or wrong,  decided to have their headstones restored as well as add the "middle" stone.
Also, Robert Wilson Rawlings' stone was almost buried, so we had the Rawlings stones done as well.

As a note, I have Volume III of the Cemeteries of Adams County.  The  book has Edward and Charity Tindall (along with Mary Robertson) buried in Lot 29 with other Robertsons.  This is not where they are located.  They are located just to the north of Lot 70.  The book lists a Pulcheria Burger buried next to Lot 70.  This "Lot" next to 70 is where the Tindall family is buried.  Pulcheria is Mary Robertson's daughter and Mary is Edward  Tindall's sister.  Mary is not related to the other Robertsons in the cemetery.

I did not know of Mary's connection to Edward at the time we visited the cemetery and did not take any pictures of her headstone, but I verified it exists through the gentleman who restored the headstones (Mary Robertson, wife of Robert Robertson (he's buried in Indiana), Died July 25, 1880, Age
67Y, 6M, 19D).  Because I did not know of them at the time, I also did not look  for Pulcheria and Henry Burger's headstones. They may have met the fate that Edward's stone was headed.  Henry L. Burger died 1/5/1867, Charity Tindall died 8/5/1867, Edward Tindall died 2/17/1871, Pulcheria Burger died 11/6/1871, and Mary Robertson died 7/25/1880.  Because of who died first, the "Lot" was probably purchased by Pulcheria Burger or Mary Robertson.

Another error in the book is with the wife of Joel Frazier..  His first wife was Manerva (Minerva) Tindall, daughter of Edward, and they had a son, Harry, who died at 6 months of age.  Manerva died between 1870-1873.  Joel's second wife was Martha E. Schultz and that is who the "M.E." is on his headstone, not Manerva as the book lists.  I do not know where Manerva is buried, but assume it is in New Providence.
